I bought cold/flu medicine and it’s making it worse? How to decongest?

I bought cold/flu medicine and it’s making it worse. I realize there are antihistimines and now I feel like I have glue in my throat and nose. I periodically take hot showers throughout the day and have put vicks vapor rub on my chest. Is there a way to decongest naturally? I’m not having a good reaction to medicine. Any ignorant answers will be reported. If you dont have input don’t answer.

there is mucinex which is a medicine for decongestion but if you want something more natural if you take not-quite-hot water and sniff it up your nose it will usually clear any mucus that is clogging your sinuses and nasal passages. however if the problem is not mucus dont try this it will only make it worse.
